You will be greeted upon your arrival, and you will be guided out to introduce you to the fold, learning about their personalities, their care and their life on the farm. After that, you will be guided to meet two of our Highlands where you can cuddle, scratch, brush and feed the coos while discussing the history of Highland Cattle, some interesting facts about Highlands and our plan here at Maple Valley. Along the way, you might see some other animals we have here on the farm being, Black Angus Cattle, Donkeys, Goats, Pigs, Chickens and Quails. There will be plenty of photo opportunities using your personal cameras or phones. This will be a walking tour with the Highland's never far from where you'll be greeted.
Sometimes unexpected circumstances arise, such as severe weather. For the safety and wellbeing of both our guests and our animals, we may need to reschedule or cancel your visit. Severe weather includes days of heavy rain or temperatures above 35°C in Mount Barker, SA. Additionally, on Extreme or Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating days (total fire ban) in the Mount Lofty Ranges, experiences will be rescheduled or cancelled. If your experience is cancelled, you will receive a full refund (excluding any third-party fees).
A liability waiver form will need to be signed by every participant before proceeding with the experience.
Your booking is a fully private session, so no other guests will be scheduled during your time with us.

Be sure to bring your phone and/or camera to capture your photo moments. We’re always happy to help by taking photos for you on your device.

For your comfort and safety, we suggest enclosed footwear and clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty.
In summer, sun-safe clothing, a hat, and sunscreen are recommended.
In winter, gumboots along with warm layers and jackets can be helpful

While we do our best to plan ahead, the environment is beyond our control and weather conditions can be unpredictable. During the warmer months, flies are common; to minimise this, we recommend booking an earlier session when it’s cooler.

We understand that plans can change! To receive a full refund (excluding any third-party fees), please let us know via email at least 72 hours before your experience.
Cancellations made less than 72 hours before your experience are non-refundable, so we can keep everything running smoothly for other guests.

If our existing experiences don’t quite fit your needs, please reach out — we’d be happy to create something tailored just for you — from alternate dates to private photography sessions (bring your own photographer) — ensuring a safe, fun, and unforgettable time with our Highland Cattle.
Every so often, we have Highland Cattle looking for new pastures. Feel free to get in touch to see who’s available.

Nestled on the border of the Hills and the Fleurieu, our farm offers unique accommodation managed by my father-in-law. It's the perfect base for exploring various Adelaide Hills experiences, and after your adventurous day, you can unwind at our accommodation, which overlooks our Cattle in the surrounding paddocks.
